Online Security. Be safe when Surfing!

One of the most
important things about online
security is having good passwords, but
many underestimate the password and think it is not as important as it really
is.
Though secure networks, and keeping things to yourself is
important, the content of a password is one of the most vital things that a person should take care of and
should guard with their life if they want to avoid computer crime.
The biggest problem seems to be that people don’t think that
having personal passwords is a bad thing, and coming in a close second is not changing passwords often enough
to protect your cyber security.
When passwords are issued by sites, most are complicated and
many don’t make sense. They are often hard to memorize. This is why so many people switch them to things that
they remember easily and that are very personal. That is a huge mistake.
Anyone who uses birthdates or words that remind them of family
or their favorite things are asking for trouble.
Anyone who knows just a little about a person could figure out
these passwords rather easily, and that makes online security a joke and cyber safety put at
risk.
When someone has the
same password for a year, it becomes vulnerable. This is why many times one of the first things recommended by
any site (when talking about online
security) is to change the password as often as
possible.
This should be something that is done once a week, but even I
don’t do that. Once a month is better, though not ideal.
It might seem like a pain to change the passwords for all your
accounts all of the time, it is one thing that can really help online security of personal accounts and
financial information like bank or credit card statements.
When it comes to online security, it is essential to
make up passwords that have both letters and numbers that mean nothing to you.
That way it will be harder for anyone to suss out. It is
surprising how easy some passwords tend to be.
Coming up with unpleasant words and a series of numbers that
mean nothing and mixing them together is probably one of the best ways to obtain cyber safety and ensure the
password is more secure.
That, along with changing the password each week can be two of
the best tools in online security for everyone. When teaching children about being online, setting
hard passwords might confuse them, but they can be written down for that purpose.
They can learn to memorize harder ones later on down the
line.
These are just some
of the measures you can take in the bid to eliminate cyber
crime.
